News from Chapter NZ of P.E.O. Sisterhood

Chapter NZ of the P.E.O. Sisterhood in Mt. Pleasant met for their regular meeting on Monday, November 25, 2019 in the home of Elizabeth Garrels with Marcia Kentner, Sally Anderson, Lea Bradley and Patty Carson serving as co-hostesses.
Prior to the business meeting, Bobbi Salzar shared with members about the disease cystic fibrosis. Both her children, Sarah (13) and Samuel (17) have the disease and she has been their primary care giver since their births. Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disorder that affects the respiratory and digestive systems. At the close of the program, fall refreshments were served by the hostess and co-hostesses.
President, Jean Thomson presided at the business meeting with 24 members present. Reports were given by the officers. The chapter will participate in the Mount Pleasant Trees of Christmas at the Henry County Courthouse on December 7 and 8. Members are asked to share ornaments for the tree by contacting Kadie Johannson.
'The Sisterhood” membership committee co-chairman, Chris McCormick announced that there will be an outing on Thursday, December 5, to the Festival of Trees and Tour of Homes in Pella, Iowa. Members will leave Mount Pleasant at 9:00 a.m. and return at 5:00 p.m. Those members wishing to go should contact McCormick. Joyce Dennison, Ways & Means chairman shared with members several greeting cards made by Phil Geiser. The cards will be available from Dennison or at future meetings. Memory rooms chairman, Liz Garrels announced that archival investigation was in progress for artifacts in the memory rooms.
Vice President, Jan Lange announced that the next meeting will be a BIL Christmas social on Thursday, December 12th at the Mount Pleasant Golf & Country Club from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Co-hostesses for the event will be Christine Broeg, Lea McCormick, Lynn Graf, Laura Bjork, Stephanie Gardner and Chris Prellwitz. Reservations need to be made by December 5 by calling one of the co-hostesses. The next regular meeting will be January 27, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ashford Park Club House. Co-hostesses will be Jan Lange, Kelley Tansey, Carolyn Reid, Jean Thomson, and Carole Lauger. The program will be 'Sharing My Irish Roots” by Kelley Tansey.
