Non-district clash will test undefeated Comets
The last time Cardinal was 4-0 was 1985.
That year, game No. 5 turned into a loss and the Comets finished the season 7-2. In 2009, Cardinal is still perfect through four games and hopes to bring that number up to five Friday night on homecoming against non-district opponent B-G-M.
With non-district wins posted already this season against Van Buren and English Valleys in weeks one and two, Cardinal fans are optimistic

With non-district wins posted already this season against Van Buren and English Valleys in weeks one and two, Cardinal fans are optimistic they can keep rooting for a team that hasn?t given much to cheer about in recent history.
However, B-G-M may present the Comets? biggest challenge of the season to date as they enter with a 3-1 record while boasting an average of 36 points in those three wins.
In last year?s 42-0 Bears victory, Cameron Farmer ran for two touchdowns. This year, Farmer has returned as the feature back in the B-G-M backfield paired up with quarterback Chase Kilmer, who handles passing duties for the Bears hitting 22-42 receivers for 324 yards so far this season.
However, the Cardinal backfield features its own dynamic duo in running back Jake Scherer and quarterback Brandon Warren, who leads an offense that has become more and more balanced each week. Warren is responsible for seven of the Comets? 11 touchdowns on the season and will look for scoring opportunities against a stout B-G-M defense that has given up just an average of seven points in its three victories.
The Cardinal homecoming game will set to begin at 7 p.m.
The Cardinal Elementary School will be serving a dinner consisting of a pork loin sandwich, chips and a drink for $5 beginning at 5:30 p.m. The fundraising effort will take place in the elementary school back parking lot next to the football field.
