In September, during a regular weekly meeting the Washington Noon Kiwanis club presented donation checks to multiple organizations totaling $5,000. The club?s annual food stand fundraiser at the Washington County Fair is their largest project of the year. The money raised from the project is used in many ways to support the community.
Club members worked shifts in the stand during the Washington County Fair this past July serving milk shakes, burgers, fries and drinks. Members then get to designate $50 per shift worked to an organization of their choice. Club President Marty Beenblossom says, ?It is a way for our members to help with the Kiwanis club fundraiser while also helping other organizations.?
The club would like to thank all patrons who supported them during the fair by purchasing food and drinks from the food stand. ?Without the support of those in our community and even outside of our community, this would not have been possible,? stated Beenblossom.
Noon Kiwanis meets every Wednesday at noon on the third floor of the Washington YMCA. For membership, questions or more information on Kiwanis contact Dean Kurtz at kurtzkrafts@hotmail.com or 319-461-7132.
