Norwegian Bandweaving program Saturday in Washington

The Washington Public Library will conclude its “Fiber Arts February” series in grand fashion Saturday with a demonstration of Norwegian Bandweaving by artist Kathleen Almelien.
The event begins at 10:30 a.m., and is free and open to all ages.
About the presenter
Almelien has exhibited in one person shows format numerous times. Kathleen serves on the board and volunteers in the Art Domestique Gallery on the square in Washington, Iowa. She is currently part of the Urban Sketch Club and serves as instructor. Ms. Almelien also competed in the En Plien Aire art competitions throughout Iowa . Kathleen’s current passions have led her to Norwegian band making with a loom that was purchased from Norway on a 2016 Vesterheim trip to Norway. Kathleen is represented in the permanent collection of the Norwegian American museum .
Almelien currently resides in Washington with her husband Jim and her cat Knute. She has two grown children who have followed her into the education field. She participates on Facebook social media at almelienstudio.
Masks are highly recommended in the library.
