Oakland Mills announces upcoming programs

The Oakland Mills Nature Center has announced a few upcoming programs:
' The Aug. 8 South Shore campground program at Oakland Mills about Native Americans will instead be a self-guided activity. This free information will be posted at all three of the campground kiosks. You do not have to be a registered camper to join in the fun. All ages are in invited to participate with their families. Bring a cell phone or camera since some activities will need to be completed at home.
' Henry County Conservation's 3rd Annual Photography Contest meeting and kickoff will be held Aug. 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the Oakland Mills Nature Center. Photography contest rules and regulations will be announced by the conservation staff at this meeting. Attendance is encouraged, however, if you are not able to come or have previously participated, please call the office at 319-986-5067 and schedule a time to come in and talk to Assistant Naturalist, Danika Cox, before receiving your contest packet. Contestants will compete for Henry County Conservation Department (HCCD) free camping certificates with a grand prize being a free HCCD cabin stay. Voting will be open to the public via social media and in-person paper ballots. This contest is open to all ages and abilities. This is a free event.
