Open Class exhibit results from Washington County Fair

The Washington County Fair Association invites the public to showcase their skills, trades, and hobbies through the Washington County Fair Open Class Exhibits. These are judged and displayed in the historic school house on the Washington County Fairgrounds. Karen Megchelsen serves as the open class exhibit volunteer superintendent and explains that the variety of exhibits come from all across the county. The 2022 Washington County Fair open class results are as follows:
Class 1 — Breads — Yeast: Jenny Schneider won first and second place
Class 2-Breads — No Yeast: Jenny Schneider won first and Jo Duwa won second place.
Class 3-Cakes-no frosting: Jo Duwa won first place and received the $25 Cake prize from Freeman Foods and Jane Dallmeyer won second place.
Class 4 — Decorated Cake: Donna Palmer won first place and Maggie Schulty won second place.
Class 7 — Cookies: Jenny Schneider won first place and received $25 Cookie prize from JWs Foods and Barb Anderegg won second place.
Class 8 — Candy: Myra Ferrier won first place.
Class 10 — Jam: Deidra Baker won first and second place.
Class 11 — Preserves and Butters: Allen Brush won first place and Jo Duwa won second place.
Class 13 — Canned Vegetables: Allen Brush won first place.
Class 14 — Pickles and Catsup: Allen Brush won first and second place.
Class 16 — Fine Arts-Painting: Marj Lins won first and the Art and Photography $25 Award from Hills Bank, and Paige Flotterud won second place.
Class 18a — Photography: Color: Sharon Scraff won first place and Tori Sueppel won second place.
Class 19 — Computer Art: Tom Hunt won first and second place.
Class 24 — Christmas in July: Myra Farrier won first place.
Class 25 — Creative Arts: Jan Miller won first and second and second place.
Class 26 — Country Crafts: Emma Lins won first place and Sue Applegate won second place.
Class 26B — Repurposed Art: Rosemary Pacha won first place.
Class 26D — Leather: Michael Kast won first and second place.
Class 27 — Wood Article Refinished: Andre Naraine won first place and Gene Mohling won second place.
Class 29 — Any Article Refinished: Jo Duwa won first place.
Class 34 — Knitting: Jean Frazer won first place.
Class 35 — Crocheting: Sue Applegate won first place and Janice Carr won second place.
Class 36 — Afghan: Janice Carr won first place and Cindy Bean won second.
Class 37 — Sewing/Stitchery: Collette McClellen won first and Shelley Palmer won second place.
Class 40 — Quilts — Antique: Jeanne Davis won first place
Class 41A — Quilts — Hand Quilted: Sue Norman won first, second place and the Hand Quilted $25 award from Stitch ‘N Sew.
Class 41B — Quilts — Machine Quilted: Donna Palmer won first, second place and the Machine Quilted $25 award from Willow Creek Quilting.
Class 41D — Baby Quilt: Judy Siren won first and second place.
Class 41E — Quilts — Wall Hangings/Table Runner: Donna Palmer won the first and second place.
Class 42 — Sewing: Brenna Goode won first place.
Class 42A — Doll Clothes: Marj Lins is first place.
Class 45 — Cut Flower Specimens: Audrey Reed won first place and second place.
Class 46A — Plants — Indoor: Audrey Reed won first place.
Class 46B — Plant — Outdoor: Audrey Reed won first and Jan Dallmeyer won second place.
Class 47 — Artistic Arrangements: Audrey Reed won first and Katie Palmer won second place.
Class 48 — Vase Bouquet/Table Display: Jo Duwa won first and Audrey Reed won second place.
Class 49 — Table Display: Jo Duwa won first place.
Class 50 — Dried or Preserved Flowers: Jo Duwa won first place.
Class 51 — Silk Flowers: Audrey Reed won first and second place.
Overall Flower and Plant $25 award from Hills Bank went to Dawn Anderegg.
Class 52 — Garden Vegetables: Allen Brush won first and second place.
Class 53 — Garden Display: Allen Brush won first place and Overall Garden Exhibit Award of a $25 award from Hills Bank.
Class 54 — Largest Vegetable — Allen Brush won first place.
Judge’s Choice $25 award from Hills Bank and Trust Company went to a quilt made by Sue Applegate.
