Open Class plans 2012 fair competition

The Jeffeson County Open Class committee met at 7 p.m. June 12 to finalize plans for the 2012 fair.

Work was completed on exhibit entry tags. Times were set for judges, helpers and locations of contests.

The decorated hat/ugly cake/duct tape contests will be 4-6 p.m. Wednesday in the Open Class booth in the Activity Building. The bubble gum blowing contest will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the show arena. The watermelon seed spitting contest will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the show arena.

Entry check-in will be noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday and 7-8:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Activity Building. Judging will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The 2011 ?Big Q? quilt will be auctioned at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday during the queen contest in the show arena. Some of the proceeds go to the 4-H foundation. This year?s quilt block challenge will be displayed in the Open Class booth. Fairgoers can vote for their favorite block.
