Open Exhibit news for the 2016 Washington County Fair

Congratulations to Karen Dennler, the winner of the door prize at the April 16 open house at the old school on the Washington County Fairgrounds. The old school is where the open exhibits are displayed during the Washington County Fair. Thank you to everyone who attended the open house and supported the Green Acres 4-H Club.

New this year the Washington County Fair Open Exhibits will have two check-in times for exhibitors to drop off their open exhibits. The new additional check-in time is Sunday, July 17, from 3 to 5 p.m. Previous year?s check-in time will continue to happen on Monday of the county fair, July 18, from 9 a.m. until noon. Judging of the open exhibits will start at 1 p.m. on July 18. Exhibitors are not required to be present for judging.

Exhibitors may be of any age and talent to participate in any of the 54 classes ranging in Breads, Jams, Painting, Computer Art, Crocheting, Vase Bouquet, and Largest Vegetable. Open exhibitors are encouraged to complete the exhibit entry listing form before coming to check-in. The form is located on the Washington County Fair website: http://washingtoncountyfairia.com. The form will be available at check-in, but having it completed ahead of time will save waiting in line.

Also new this year, a grocery store in Wellman has donated a cash prize for the overall first-place cake entry, and a grocery store from Kalona has donated a $25 cash prize for the overall first-place cookie entry. Thank you to these grocery stores for supporting the open exhibits at the Washington County Fair.
