Open house planned for Reed?s 100th birthday
John William Reed of rural Libertyville is celebrating his 100th birthday.
An open house celebration will be held from 2-4 p.m. Jan. 7 at Faith United Methodist Church in Libertyville.
Mr. Reed was born Jan. 8, 1912, in Jefferson County and was married to Ella Mae (Smith) Reed for 63 years before her passing in 2006.

John William Reed of rural Libertyville is celebrating his 100th birthday.
An open house celebration will be held from 2-4 p.m. Jan. 7 at Faith United Methodist Church in Libertyville.
Mr. Reed was born Jan. 8, 1912, in Jefferson County and was married to Ella Mae (Smith) Reed for 63 years before her passing in 2006.
He worked for Louden Machinery Company for 38 years until his retirement in 1977, farmed in Jefferson County and worked at Parsons College and Warner?s Shoe Store. Mr. Reed also served in World War II from 1942-1945. He joined the Iowa National Guard, which he served for 11 years, in 1947.
