Open house to be held for birthday
Jean Black, of Washington, will be honored for her 80th birthday with an open house from 1 to 3 p.m., Nov. 28, at Central Park Community Center, 107 West Washington Street in Washington. Relatives and friends are invited.
Jean was born Nov. 29, 1935, in Lamoni. Her parents were Claude and Helen Dickerson. She grew up in Washington County. She married Orin Black on May 5, 1962. He died on Jan. 9, 1992.

Jean was born Nov. 29, 1935, in Lamoni. Her parents were Claude and Helen Dickerson. She grew up in Washington County. She married Orin Black on May 5, 1962. He died on Jan. 9, 1992.
Her stepchildren are Denny Black and wife Laura of Alpha, Illinois, Mike Black and wife Bev of Washington, Bill Black and wife Sherry of Washington, Larry Black of Iowa City, Steve Black and wife Denise of Webster, Gary Black and wife Jackie of Ankeny, Tom Black and wife Deb of Washington, Doug Black and wife Cindi of Donna, Texas, and Brad Black and wife Bonnie of Sigourney. There are 19 step-grandchildren and 31 step-great-grandchildren.
Jean worked with Orin at Blackie?s Super Value in Sigourney and recently retired from Dollar General in Washington. She volunteers at the McCreedy Home and is a member of First Christian Church. She resides at 825 South Avenue C, Apt. D, in Washington.
