Opera show, more preceding Italian festival
A free opera show from Way Off Broadway is among the numerous daytime events planned before Saturday?s All Things Italian Street Festival on the Fairfield square.

A free opera show from Way Off Broadway is among the numerous daytime events planned before Saturday?s All Things Italian Street Festival on the Fairfield square.
Led by Margaret Clair and featuring a number of summer interns, Way Off Broadway plans to ?take you on a fun romp through Italian opera? starting at 2 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall, 51 N. Main St.
Participating interns include tenor Brian Watson from the San Francisco Bay area; Aaron Alan, a graduate of Minnesota State University, Mankato?s musical theater program; and past intern Penelope Makeig, Maharishi School graduating senior and future voice major at University of Iowa. Operatic baritone Stephen Swanson, professor of voice at University of Iowa, also will perform with the group. The singers will be accompanied by Phil D?Agostino on piano.
Also before the Italian festival, The Chocolate Cafe will host a Baci chocolate giveaway as well as Italian chocolate tastings at both 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Admission to the tastings are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.
