OUTDOORS: Hunter education class set in Fairfield

A hunter education certification class is set for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Southeast Iowa Skeet Club in Fairfield.
Hunter education certification is mandatory for anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 1972, who wishes to purchase an Iowa hunting license.
A person who is 11 years old or older can enroll in a hunter education class. An 11-year-old who successfully competes the class will be issued a certificate that becomes valid on their 12th birthday.
To register for the class, sign up on the Iowa Department of Natural Resources student registration portal at http://register-ed.com/programs/iowa.
Class participants should pick up a Hunter Education manual at the Jefferson County Park Nature Center or the Jefferson County Recorder's Office in the Jefferson County Courthouse.
