Entomologist Moni Hayne will be sharing her knowledge during Insect Week at Jefferson County Park.
Hayne will present three different programs. All programs meet at the Jefferson County Park Nature Center. No registration is required. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
The first program to kick off Insect week is Moth Night 9:30-11 p.m. July 10. Participants can enjoy a fun night of mothing, which will begin with an introduction in the Nature Center followed by time outdoors to see what moths and other insects are attracted to the black light stations.
Next in the lineup is Insects in the Pond set for 5-6:30 p.m. July 11. Hayne will be teaching participants about the insects they pull out of the wetland. Particpants should come prepared for a hands-on adventure.
Caterpillar ID will wrap up the week from 5-6:30 p.m. July 12. Hayne will be teaching participants about common caterpillars they find and what butterflies the caterpillars will become.
