The Jefferson County Women?s Farm Bureau met Nov. 1 at Pizza Ranch, with Carol Messer as hostess.
Ten members answered roll call to ?Natural Resources and Manufacturing of South Africa.?
Shirley Stanley opened the meeting with a reading entitled ?Thanksgiving.?
Under old business, Stanley reported they had prepared the mailings for the Arc of Jefferson County. She also thanked those helping with the special Jefferson County 4-H Halloween ?trunk or treat? Oct. 29 at the fairgrounds. She said more than 40 vehicles participated, and an estimated 375 to 400 children went through along with adults. She decorated the trunk of her car with lights and Halloween decorations. Ella Cass, Zoe Mority and Sandy Nelson helped hand out pencils and crayons. Phyllis Harris helped serve food in the Activity Building.
Carrol Messer presented the program on her experiences helping judge at the Iowa State Fair. She reported she has attended every state fair since she was 16. More than 12,000 entries were in the food department competitions this year.
The next meeting will be Dec. 6 at the home of Shirley Stanley. It will be a potluck and tasting party.
