P.E.O. Chapter NZ holds meeting

Chapter NZ of the P.E.O. Sisterhood met for their regular meeting on Monday, June 10, at the Ashford Park Clubhouse. President Jean Thomson presided at the 1 p.m. business meeting with 22 members present. Jan Lange, Kay Denning, Mary Beth Young, Ally Lowe, Amy Lowe and Betty Lowe served as hostesses.
Reports were given by the officers. Vice President Lange announced that the next meeting will be held on Monday, June 24, at the home of Karen Brimhall with Barb McRoy, Sheila Allender, Amy Pullis, Madison Pullis and Ouida Naylor serving as co-hostesses. The program will be Sharing Our Stories with the showing of the DVD 'NZ Sisters Bringing Our Founders to Life.”
Ways and means chairman, Joyce Dennison reported needing help for a June 19 luncheon. Members able to contribute are to contact Dennison. Memory rooms chairman, Liz Garrels announced that the date of the Heritage Tour for presidents and organizers from across the U.S.A. and Candada will be Thursday, July 18. A date for cleaning the rooms will be Saturday, July 13, at 9:30 a.m.
Henry County sesquicentennial committee member Elizabeth Garrels announced the vacancies still available in volunteering as docents and guides for the upcoming fall convention. Members are to contact Liz if they are able to volunteer some way or sign up for extra shifts.
Brimhall announced that four Henry County chapters will again be hosting the fundraiser, 'Pies in the Park.” The four dates will be June 13, June 20, June 27, and July 11. The fundraiser is in conjunction with the Community Band concerts held each Thursday evening at 7 p.m. in Central Park. P.E.O.'s will begin serving a slice of pie and a scoop of ice cream at 6:45 p.m. for free will donation.
At the close of the business meeting, Brimhall, delegate to the Iowa State Convention in Des Moines on June 1, presented an overall review of the convention.
