P.E.O. installs officers for 2019

Chapter NZ of the P. E. O Sisterhood met for their regular meeting on Monday, March 25, 2019, in the home of Kay Denning with Becky Kaufman, Chris McCormick, Mary Beth Young and Brianne Clark serving as co-hostesses. Prior to the business meeting an initiation for two new mewmbers was held. President, Lana Moeller presided at the 1 p.m. business meeting. Reports were given by officers, ways & means chairman, B&B chairman, memory rooms' chairman and courtesy chairman.
Treasurer Deb Mascarenas presented the second reading of the 2019-20 budget, which was passed unanimously. The auditing committee of Marcia Kentner and Kay Dennings gave their report. Henry County sesquincentennial committee members, Liz Garrels, Joyce Dennison and Karen Brimhall shared that volunteers are still needed for the fall convention. Members are to contact the committee to colunteer for various jobs that require minimal preparation. General information meetings will be held Thursday, April 4, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 6, at 9 a.m. Volunteers are encouraged to attend one of the meetings.
Vice President Connie Geiser announced that the next meeting would be held April 22, 2019, in the memory rooms at Old Main on the campus of Iowa Wesleyan University. She announced that the theme for the coming year will be 'Sharing Our Stories.” Hostesses will be the new 2019-20 Chapter NZ officers. The program will be by Joy Conwell who works in historical collections at the Iowa Wesleyan University. The program will be at 1 p.m. followed by the business meeting and refreshments.
Elizabeth Garrels installed the officers for the coming year. The officers installed were: President Jean Thomson, Vice President Jan Lange, Recording Secretary Sheila Allender, Treasuer Deb Mascarenas, Chaplain Lea McCormick, and Guard Nancy Vens. Not present was Corresponding Secretary Pat Heusmann who will be installed next month. Following installation, Jean Thomson was presented her gavel guard, and out going president, Lana Moeller was given a thank-you gift from the chapter.
Following the business meeting, the hostess and co-hostess served refreshements to the 289 members present.
