Panther girls? track places second in Washington

WASHINGTON ? The Mt. Pleasant girls? track and field team took second place in Washington on Thursday night.
The Panthers won three events and scored 122 points, 17 behind first place Benton and 21 in front of third place Washington.

WASHINGTON ? The Mt. Pleasant girls? track and field team took second place in Washington on Thursday night.
The Panthers won three events and scored 122 points, 17 behind first place Benton and 21 in front of third place Washington.
Bailey Johnson had a big day for the Mt. Pleasant throwers. She won the discus competition with a 110-07 and took second in the shot put with a 35-04.
Maggie Cristoforo picked up a win in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:04.96. The 4X800 team of Abby Ryon, Delaney McDowell, Maggie Jennings and Taylor Murray was victorious as well, in 10:22.31.
The Panthers picked up a couple of second-place finishes in the hurdle events. The shuttle hurdle team of Maddie Williamson, Serenity Keomanivong, Kalynn Batey and Allison Buckert was second in 1:11.34 and Buckert took silver in the 100-meter hurdles, in 16.25 seconds.
Mt. Pleasant also had four third-place finishes including one in the 4X100 relay where the team of Buckert, Jenna Hummell, Katie Ensminger and Brianna Shelman finished in 54 seconds.
Individual third-place finishers for the Panthers came from Kendall Dascher in the 3000-meter run (12:44.30), Katie Ensminger in the 100-meter dash (13.42 seconds) and Ryon in the 800-meter run (2:34.55).
The Mt. Pleasant girls will be back in action on Tuesday, April 25, at 4:30 p.m.
