Panther JV football starts season out with a victory

TIFFIN ? The Mt. Pleasant junior varsity football team started their season off on the right note on Thursday night, defeating Clear Creek-Amana, 20-12 in the season opener.
Bryce Anderson scored the Panthers? first touchdown on a 26-yard touchdown run. He found Chase Lamm for a nine-yard strike through the air for the second Mt. Pleasant score and then ran in a four-yard touchdown run later in the game.
Anderson finished the game 6-20 with 81 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions through the air. Levi Puig had three catches for 46 yards receiving and Lamm had two catches for 30 yards and a score.
Anderson also led the team in rushing yards, with 56, to go with his two touchdowns. Puig had 28 yards on the ground.
Defensively, Caleb Potts led the team with 13 tackles, four assists and a fumble recovery. Puig had five tackles and a fumble recovery and Colby Pots had one interception.
The Panthers moved to 1-0 with the win and will be back in action on Monday, Sept. 12, at Washington.
