Panther trap team wins conference crown

OTTUMWA ? The Mt. Pleasant Panther Trap Team traveled to the Ottumwa for the Southeast Iowa Scholastic Conference Championship. The Mt. Pleasant Panther Trap Team came away from this meet as the conference champions for the second time in three years capturing the prized trophy from Ottumwa.

The Panthers also had 18 individuals place in the two the Conference Shootout as well as the E-Conference Shoot. In addition the Panthers had squads from all levels finish in the top five.

In the Conference Shootout, Jenna Smith finished first in the Rookie Division and also took Top Female. In Intermediate Entry, Jacob Moutrie took first, Izaak Lance second, and Braden Denning third. Moutrie took Top Male and Traden Barton Top Female.

For Intermediate Advanced, Parker Baugh was first, Connor Coleman second and James Kinney fifth. Parker Bough took Top Male.

In Junior Varsity division Lane Ridenouor took Top Female and for the Varsity group Ashley Hummell took Top Female.

For squads, Mount Pleasant Intermediate Entry and Advanced took first. Mount Pleasant Varsity finished third.

In E-Conference, Jenna Smith finished first and took Top Female in the Rookie Division.

For the Intermediate Entry Mt. Pleasant swept the top five with Izaak Lance first, Tristan Scovel second, Jacob Simmons third, Levi Mills fourth and Ryan Borders fifth. Izaak Lance took Top Male and Brier Klossing Top Female.

For the Intermediate Advance group Parker Bough was first, Aaron Bodenham second and Clayton Loving third. Parker Bough was the Top Male. In Junior Varsity, Lane Ridenour took Top Female. Wolfgang Schumacher finished third for the Varsity group.

For squads, Mt. Pleasant Combined Squads for Intermediate Entry and Advanced finished first. For the Junior Varsity group, Mt. Pleasant Combined finished third and Varsity Combined ended up second.

Mt. Pleasant also had six shooters selected for the Southeast Iowa All-Conference Team. The shooters from varsity were Hummell and Schumacher. Bodenham and Bough were selected from Intermediate Advanced. Levi Mills and Izaak Lance were selected from the Intermediate Entry shooters.

The Mt. Pleasant Panther Trap Team has completed local shoots including this conference shoot and will now head to Waverly/Cedar Falls for the Scholastic Clays Target Program shoot to be held June 4-6 and for the High School Trap Shoot June 6-7. Fourty-five Mount Pleasant shooters will compete during this State Championship Event.
