FT. MADISON ? The Mt. Pleasant volleyball team bounced back from a couple of rough sets on Tuesday night in Ft. Madison, but after a big Panther third set, the Bloodhounds came back and closed out the 3-1 win.
Ft. Madison showed why they are the defending SEC champions in the first two sets. The Bloodhounds took games one and two, 25-13 and 25-14. FMCHS did so by feeding their senior led front line. Three of the top four Bloodhound killers are seniors.
In the third set, however, Mt. Pleasant showed the fight it needed to compete with the conference favorites. The Panthers battled to narrow 25-23 win, avoiding the sweep and giving the Bloodhounds their first lost set to a conference team this season.
After sustaining the Mt. Pleasant blow, the Bloodhounds were able to put the Panthers away in the fourth set, by the score of 25-15.
Mt. Pleasant fell to an even 6-6 on the season overall. After playing each SEC team once, they sit at 2-2 in conference. The Panthers? next game is tonight on the road against Ottumwa. The Bulldogs are 2-6 this season.
