Panthers sweep Demon Relays

WASHINGTON ? It was a great night for the Mt. Pleasant track and field teams on Thursday night.
The Panthers swept the meet, topping the boys? standings with 224 points and the girls? standings with 166 points.

WASHINGTON ? It was a great night for the Mt. Pleasant track and field teams on Thursday night.
The Panthers swept the meet, topping the boys? standings with 224 points and the girls? standings with 166 points.
WACO was fifth in the boys? standings, with 38 points and eighth in the girls? standings with 17 points. The Winfield-Mt. Union boys finished ninth, with five points and the Lady Wolves were ninth, with 13 points.
The Panther boys had 12 wins on the day to lead the day. Logan Murray was a double winner. Murray won the 3200-meter run, in 10:14.58, with Adam Bodenham placing second, in 10:16.41. Murray topped the 1600-meter field, in 4:40.20. Cody Mertens was second in that event, with a 4:44.45.
The Panther boys had a great day in relays. Mt. Pleasant finished first in six relays.
The sprint medley team of Cole Burns, Brady Sartorius, Jake Lowe and Rylan Seberg won, in 1:39.41. The 4X800 team of Mertens, Ryan Hutchinson, Kyle Vanderham and Jacob Stukerjurgen won, in 4:30.48.
The shuttle hurdle team of Keegan Rich, Chase Lamm, Burns and Lowe won, in 59.36 seconds. WACO finished second in the shuttle. The Warrior squad of Beau Beckler, Jackson Roth, Colton Horak and Cornell Hulme won, in 1:02.73.
The Panther 4X200 team of Rich, Seberg, Sartorius and Jonathan Ita won, in 36:57. The 4X100 team of Rich, Sartorius, Seberg and Lowe won, in 45.10 seconds, and the 4X400 team of Zach Beason, Lamm, Nolan Quade and Ita took first, in 3:41.15.
Lowe picked up a win in the 110-meter high hurdles, in 14.57 seconds. Beason threw a 127-08 in the discus to take first place, and Ita won the high jump with a 6-00.
The Panther boys dominated the long jump, scoring the top two finishes on varsity and the top three overall. Seberg won, with a 19-11. Rich was second, with a 19-10.50 and McGhghy was third, with a 19-04.
Khang Truong was second in the 100-meter dash, in 11.73 seconds. Hutchinson placed second in the 400-meter dash, in 53.86 seconds, and the distance medley team of Beason, McGhghy, Jordan Magnani and Brody Bender were second, in 3:58.22 to give the Panthers another silver.
Horak picked up another second place finish for WACO. He placed second in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:00.48.
The Mt. Pleasant girls won five events. The Panthers dominated the throwing events once again, sweeping the top two varsity spots in both.
Grace Bittle won the shot put with a throw of 35-00. Lexie Magnani was second with a 34-09. Bailey Johnson was third with a 33-10. Abby Liechty was fourth, in 32-06.25.
Liechty won the discus, with a 103-10. Johnson was second, with a 102-04 and Sadie Carrasco was third, with a 94-08.
Allison Buckert won the 100-meter hurdles, in 16.85 seconds. The shuttle hurdle team of Maddie Williamson, Serenity Keomanivong, Kalynn Batey and Buckert won, in 1:11.08.
Taylor Murray and Abby Ryon each had a great day in the distance events. Murray won the 1500-meter run, in 5:08.33, with Ryon finishing second, in 5:09.54.
Murray was also second in the 800-meter run, in 2:29.94, and Ryon was second in the 3000-meter hurdles, in 11:03.22.
Maggie Cristoforo was second in the 400-meter dash, in 1:05.20. Buckert took silver in the long jump, in 15-06.50, and the 4X100 team of Broeker, Buckert, Jenna Hummell and Brianna Shelman placed second in the 4X100, in 54.65 seconds.
