Facebook is a social media platform that has 950 million active users per month. It allows friends to communicate with each other via status updates and photos. Many nonprofit organizations, such as the Fairfield Park and Recreation Department, are using Facebook to stay in touch with the communities they serve.
The park and rec page posts class updates, photos, events, announcements, special offers, polls and mini-contests. People who ?like? the page may see these updates when they log in to their Facebook accounts. ?Likers? can interact with the page by posting comments and asking questions.
Prizes include Fairfield Park and Recreation-branded lanyards, mini-backpacks and day passes to the Roosevelt Community Recreation and Roosevelt Aquatic Center. After entering, contestants become eligible for a secret top prize if they get two of their Facebook friends to enter.
