Parsons College alum John Blackstock publishes book

'My Four Years at Parsons College” is a book written by John Blackstock, Parsons College class of 1964, telling about 'the life and times of Johnny Blackstock.”

Blackstock has written this book and is making it available to the general public of Fairfield to share his recollections of the four years that changed his life: his education at Parsons College, which called Fairfield home from 1875-1973.

John will give the profits from the sale of his book to the Carnegie Museum Foundation. The Fairfield Art Association (FAA) has agreed to have this book available to the public to purchase during its studio open hours at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center.

Blackstock has taken a number of years to complete this book and has provided insight to the mind and happenings of a Parsons College student's four-year experience of education on campus. He had a full '12-in-a-row” trimesters under his belt when he completed his degree in 1964. His transition from working as the editor of the PORTFOLIO (college student newspaper) to a job as a sport reporter with the Boston Herald-Traveler was a career changer.

John was the visionary to create the 'Parsons College Wall of Honor,” which honors 100 of the graduates of Parsons College housed in the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center. He was editor of 'The Parsons College E-News” for over 10 years as it was circulated by email to an alumni base of over 2,000 people during this past decade.

You will be able to walk in his shoes and learn about how Parsons students had so many opportunities to learn life lessons from some of the nation's best professors, as well as hear top concert tours in the Fry-Thomas Fieldhouse.
