Fairfield Elks Lodge 1192 Past Exalted Ruler Matt Welcher passes the gavel to incoming Exalted Ruler Debbie Davis during a ceremony March 23. Davis is the first female exalted ruler to lead the Fairfield lodge in its 100-plus year history. The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks is a fraternal organization founded in 1868. Each year, the order spends more than $80,000,000 for benevolent, educational and patriotic community-minded programs for youth, drug awareness, veterans, scholarships, and each year hosts a national Hoop Shoot free-throw contest involving more than 3 million children. Anyone interested in membership, can pick up an application at the lodge.
