Patrick Morton?s life will be remembered at the fourth annual Piling Up Patrick?s Power Wagon Party at 6 p.m. July 28 at the Fairfield Elks Lodge.
The annual event, which is held close to Patrick?s July 31 birthday, is a fundraiser and donation drive for Camp Courageous. A freewill donation spaghetti dinner will be provided with all proceeds to benefit camp.
The fundraiser also will be collecting items needed to support the camp?s day-to-day operations. A list of these items can be found at www.campcourageous.org. Commonly needed items include: food, paper goods, new white T-shirts, wet wipes, laundry detergent, and paper. Specific medical items also are needed and especially appreciated.
Cash donations to help purchase larger items are accepted, as is any information for obtaining needed items at a reduced price. Checks should be made payable to ?Camp Courageous ? In Memory of Patrick Morton.?
Camp Courageous in Monticello provides a unique experience for any individual with a disability. The camp serves over 6,000 campers annually; 3 percent of which are from southeast Iowa. It is run solely on donations. Patrick attended camp there from age 3 to 13. Over the last three years, the donations from Patrick?s friends and family has been one of the largest non-business donation the camp receives annually.
