Pekin boys dominate field events once again
CENTERVILLE ? The Pekin boys? track and field team was one of four squads at the Centerville Quad meet Thursday evening.
There was no team scoring at the event, but as head coach Davis Eidahl notes, the meet can be a good gauge of early season progress.
?After our invitational Monday, it?s a good meet to have and everyone can compete with no pressure,? he said. ?It?s also a good way to get ready for next week.?

CENTERVILLE ? The Pekin boys? track and field team was one of four squads at the Centerville Quad meet Thursday evening.
There was no team scoring at the event, but as head coach Davis Eidahl notes, the meet can be a good gauge of early season progress.
?After our invitational Monday, it?s a good meet to have and everyone can compete with no pressure,? he said. ?It?s also a good way to get ready for next week.?
But whether they were getting ready for next week or just doing what they always do, the Pekin field event competitiors shined oncea gain.
Bryce Sines posted wins in both the long jump (19? 2?) and high jump (5? 10?) while Zach Mosbey gathered his second shot put (51? 8?) victory in as many tries. Mosbey also placed second in the discus (122? 0?).
In the first event on the track, Colton Dunning carried that field event momentum into another Panther victory with a time of 11:46 in the 3200-meter run. Pekin ran well in the other distance events also as Eli Harper won the 800 (2:13) and Jacob Cooley took second in the 1600 (5:10).
Other highlights for the Panthers included second-place results from Graham Wittrock in the 400-meter dash (55.00) and Tyler Sylvester in the 110-high hurdles (18.20).
Relay teams taking third were the 4x800 relay team of Phillip Laux, Aaron King, Wittrock and Harper in 9:12, the shuttle-hurdle team of Hunter Maeder, Cory Lloyd, Josh Sterling and Sylvester in 1:08.10, the 4x200 team of Denium Reynolds, Josh Sterling, Derek Tonks and Cohen Philips in 1:40.80, the 4x100 foursome of Reynolds, Sterling, Tonks and Philips in 48.90 and the 4x400 combination of Maeder, Sines, Trey Sathoff and Wittrock in 3:45.
