Pekin kindergarden roundup planned Friday

PACKWOOD ? Pekin community school?s kindergarten roundup for kindergarten pupils will be Friday.

No classes for the present kindergarten students will be held Friday.

Children must be 5 years old prior to Sept. 15 to be eligible for kindergarten for the 2012-13 school year.  Parents must bring their child?s birth certificate.

All beginning kindergarteners should come to Pekin at approximately 8:15-8:30 a.m. Friday.  Students may ride the bus in the morning as many already do for preschool. If a child is not riding the bus now and a parent would like for them to Friday, contact a friend or neighbor and make arrangements for the child to get on the bus.

Kindergarten teachers Carol Kelly and Ruth Lowenberg, preschool teachers Gina Swearingen and Jane Wiggins and day care personnel, will help familiarize the children with what kindergarten will be like.  Following the morning activities, the students will eat lunch.

Parents are invited to come to the elementary gym at 11 a.m. Teachers will have an informative meeting with parents followed by a question and answer time. A luncheon will be served. Following the luncheon, parents need to pick up their children.
