PEO Sisterhood year-end celebrations

Chapter NZ of the PEO Sisterhood met for a Christmas luncheon at the Mt. Pleasant Golf & Country Club on Dec. 10, 2018. Hostesses for the day were Lynn Graf, Lea McCormick, Kimm Hassenfritz, Christine Broeg, Bev Alderson and Chris Prellwitz. Following the noon luncheon, President Lana Moeller presided at the business meeting with 26 members present.
Chaplain Lea McCormick shared the scripture, recording secretary Jan Lange read the minutes from the previous meeting, and treasurer Deb Mascarnas gave the financial report. The treasurer announced that dues for the coming yuear may now be paid. Corresponding secretary Jean Thomson read a letter from the executive offices thanking the chapter for their second installment for the 150 Fund.
Vice President Connie Geiser thanked the hostesses and announced that the next regular meeting will be Monday, Jan. 28, 2019, at the Ashford Park Club House with Han Lange as hostess. Co-hostesses will be Betty Lowe, Amy Lowe, Ally Lowe and Jean Thomson. The program will be 'Celebrating! The Impact of Iowa and International Projects” by Marcia Kentner.
The 'Sisterhood” membership committee co-chairman, Betty Lowe, shared that several members attended the open house at the Barn and had lunch at Walt's resteraunt. Members of the committee, Kay Denning, Chris McCormick, Karen Wenstrand and Betty Lowe also organized Christmas plates of cookies for house bound or partially house -bound members.
At the close of the meeting, hostess Lyn Graf announced that Dec. 3, 2018 was the 35th anniversary of the organization of Chapter NZ. The committee gave member decorated sugar cookies commemorating the anniversary. She shared that there were 24 charter member and that three are still memmebers of the chapter: Kathy Schimmelpfennig, Elizabeth Garrels and Janet Roederer.
Elizabeth Garrels then shared the invitation for the 150th anniversary celebration of the PEO Sisterhood, Jan. 21, 2019, and told of the many activities for the day closing with the 5 p.m. birthday dinner at Howe Student Activity Center at Iowa Wesleyan University and the 'Happy Birthday PEO!” evening program at 7 p.m. in the Chapel Auditorium. Reservations for the 5 p.m. dinner should be made by Jan. 7, 2019, to treasurer Deb Mascarenas. Karen Brimhall helped Elizabeth Garrels with securing volunteers needed for the day's activities.
