Rehearsals are in full swing for Mid-Prairie?s fall play ?Peter Pan and Wendy? and the large, impressive set is getting finishing touches by set designer-builder Mike McNurlen. Special effects have been designed, including some happening via ?movie magic? created by a collaboration between current and former Mid-Prairie film students.
Special-effects filming took place Saturday morning, Oct. 25, at the high school. Screen acting was a fun, new experience for cast members Abby Pickard (Peter Pan), Ben Chapman (John Darling), Isaiah Sents (Michael Darling) and Aleigha Gugel (Wendy Darling). The film crew consisted of five of the original eight members of M-P?s 2013 IHSSA Large Group Speech All State honored Short Film group: Caleb Davis (shown here holding the microphone boom) and Josh Gingerich, plus 2014 graduates Jim Roth, Austin Slabaugh and Brandon Wade.
?Peter Pan and Wendy? performances will be 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7 and Saturday, Nov. 8, at Mid-Prairie High School auditorium. Tickets are available from cast members. This is the non-musical, stage version of the 1911 classic by J.M. Barre's book ?Peter Pan? and is not a Hollywood-style ?based-on? production.
This is an exciting adventure for all ages and family members to enjoy. It was adapted for stage by Doug Rand and is produced by special arrangement with Playscripts Inc. (Photo by Elyse Chapman)
