Parents: Lynne and Charles Heidbreder
Cumulative GPA and Class Rank: GPA: 3.9, (Rank 3/107)
Activities: I have been in band all four years of high school and it is my favorite of my extracurricular activities. During our marching band season, I became the section leader of the flutes. I was also on the Girls; Varsity Soccer Team for three years and during my time on the team, I won the Scholar-Athlete Achievement Award, Varsity Letter Award, and the Southeast Conference All-Academic Team Award. I have also received awards through the school such as the Academic Achievement Award and have been named a Student of Character.
Future plans: I am excited to be continuing my education at Michigan State University in the Fall of 2024. I plan on majoring in either Finance or Economics, which will prepare me for a career in the finance field. I have not found a particular job that I plan on going into, but I hope to learn more about different career options in finance as I continue my education.
How will your high school experiences help you in coming years? My high school experiences have taught me the importance of a good work ethic and hard work, which will be very helpful for continuing my education and for my future career. They have also taught me how to be a part of a community and work with others.
Fondest memory of high school? My fondest memory of high school was this school year when they brought back the Homecoming bonfire and the student body was all crowded around cheering and clapping for the Homecoming Court to be announced.
Which teachers have had the biggest impact on you and why? My Pre-Calculus and Calculus teacher, Mrs. Anderson has had the biggest impact on me throughout my high school years. The subject of math is not a particular favorite among most students, but Mrs. Anderson’s way of teaching makes a hard subject not so hard. She has taught me that it is okay to ask questions, even when they seem foolish. She makes learning not so daunting and I hope to meet more math teachers like her.
Who is your role model and how did they influence you? My biggest role model is my older sister Shelby. She has shown me how hard work and determination can drastically change your life. She has also taught me to be independent, but not to be afraid to ask for help when I need it and without her, I don’t think I could have made it through my four years of high school.
What is special about your high school? What is special about my school is the history. Many of the staff that work here at Mount Pleasant High School have attended it themselves and it is always very interesting to hear stories about the school when they attended.
If you go back to when you were a freshman, what advice would you give yourself? The advice I would give to myself as a freshman is to cherish the little moments you have with your friends and classmates because four years will go by faster than you think.
