Pfeiffer recognized by Optimist International?s Iowa District Distinguished Governor

Donald Pfeiffer received his Distinguished Governor ring during the Awards Banquet at the Wasserbahn in the Amana Colonies. One hundred and eighteen Iowa District Optimist members attended this banquet and received the awards they achieved during this past Optimist year.

There are 49 Districts in Optimist International where member clubs conduct community service projects concentrating on the motto ?Friend of Youth." Don was one of 17 Governors to lead their district to Distinguished Status. He was awarded an Optimist International ring for his efforts.

Pfeiffer's effort to this achievement began with his election to the position of governor-elect in August 2013. He served in this position from Oct. 1, 2013, to Sept. 30, 2014. His role as governor began Oct. 1, 2014, and continued until Sept. 30, 2015. During this time he oversaw four conferences, the Iowa District Convention, attended the International Convention in New Orleans, visited many of the 68 Optimist clubs in Iowa, and encouraged Optimist clubs to continue to be a highlight in their communities. His travel amounted to 28,000 miles during this past year.

As Past Immediate Governor (P.I.G.) he will wear a tie adourned with images of ?PIGs? during this next year. He remains on the Iowa District Board of Directors and will serve for two years in that capacity.

He is currently on the Membership Committee of Optimist International and will make a presentation on June 30 in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada.

Pfeiffer has been a member of the Optimist Club of Washington since 1981 and has served in many club offices as well as chairperson of several District Committees.
