Come to Iowa Mennonite School on Saturday, Feb. 28 from 1 to 5 p.m. to participate in musical performances, games, and piano-inspired events! You need not be a pianist to enjoy this family-friendly afternoon of making music. All ages are welcome!
Activities include Orff instrument and drum circles, the opportunity to play with a backup band, open piano time on stage and in the foyer, a chance to win a free ukelele, and an iPad and digital piano demonstration.
The afternoon will also feature interactive activities called Stump the Piano Chump, Reader's Theatre with "Mozart," a self-guided musical odyssey/scavenger hunt, a MaKey MaKey computer application that allows unusual objects to be used as a keyboard, and the unveiling of the newly created splatter painted piano by IMS art students. A food stand sponsored by IMS Compassion Group will be on site as well.
IMS resident piano instructor Susan See will be assisted by Rachel See, music therapist from Special School District of St. Louis; Nathaniel Yoder, Master of Art music education candidate at the University of Iowa, Josh Tyson, Iowa Mennonite School instructor and Lee Ebersole, IMS instructor. It happens at Iowa Mennonite School.
Pass the word! There is no fee although a donation box will be available to help cover expenses. For more information, call Susan See at 319-653-5716.
