Pie contest, live music highlight Ollie Big Day
OLLIE ? Ollie Big Day organizers have packed a ton of family fun into one day, with activities scheduled all day July 30 at the Ollie Community Building in Ollie.
The big day will kick off with a 6 a.m. breakfast. Omelets, biscuits and gravy, fruit, potatoes, pancakes, sausage patties and cinnamon rolls will be available for a freewill offering.

OLLIE ? Ollie Big Day organizers have packed a ton of family fun into one day, with activities scheduled all day July 30 at the Ollie Community Building in Ollie.
The big day will kick off with a 6 a.m. breakfast. Omelets, biscuits and gravy, fruit, potatoes, pancakes, sausage patties and cinnamon rolls will be available for a freewill offering.
Contestants will vie for best pie during a contest sponsored by the Ollie Baptist Church. Categories are: fruit, two crust; fruit, one crust; nut; and miscellaneous.
Pies need to be brought in and registered at the community building by 9 a.m. Judging will begin at 9:30 a.m. Ribbons will be given and pies will be served with lunch. Winning pies will be auctioned later in the day, with proceeds going to help fund Ollie Big Day. Everyone is welcome to enter as many pies as they wish, and entry is free.
Other contests include dressed potato and decorated parade bikes at 10:30 a.m. and a baby contest on stage at 4 p.m. The baby contest is for newborns to 2-year-olds and every contestant wins.
Lunch service will begin at noon and continue all day. The menu includes Maid-Rites, hot dogs, bratwursts, baked beans, potato salad, coleslaw, Sloppy Joes and drinks.
The children?s parade and main parade will begin at 11 a.m., and the band American Pie will perform twice, from 1-1:45 p.m. and 3-3:45 p.m. In addition, numerous items, including a black powder gun, will be raffled in the afternoon.
Anyone planning to attend is urged to bring lawn chairs.
