WEST BURLINGTON ? A cold start was the beginning of a long night for Maharishi School, which dropped a 51-16 road game to West Burlington on Tuesday.
Falling behind 13-0 after the first quarter, the Pioneers played even with West Burlington in the second quarter but still trailed 21-7 at the intermission. They then scored the first basket of the second half to narrow the deficit to 12, but it was all West Burlington in the final quarter and a half.
Leading scorers for Maharishi School were Surya Sawhney with five points, and Avery Mullenneaux and Bimba Shrestha with four points each.
Mullenneaux also pulled down a team-high seven boards to go with two blocks. Rashan Anderson had four rebounds and three steals, and Suraj Pullapantula finished with four rebounds.
The Pioneers (2-9) next travel to Holy Trinity on Friday.
