Sep. 4, 2019 1:00 am
T The Fairfield Art Association's annual summer art installation 'Pipe Dreams” will end on Friday, Sept. 6, along with the silent auction bidding at 8 p.m.
The 11 art works are in the garden nodes around the square and up Main Street, with the bid sheets at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center in the Main Gallery area.
Proceeds from the auction benefit both the FAA and the artists.
This year's theme started with PVC pipes, partially donated by Hickenbttom Inc., being given to the artists to make their own creation which compliments a garden area. A couple of the pieces contain solar lights, three with a RAGBRAI influence, and others are very whimsical. Participating artists include; Curt Swarm, Annie Guldberg, Wendy Stegall, Mary Arnold and Family, Rolf Erickson, Jason DePrey, Mike Pech, Holly and Matt McDow, Pamela Lander, Susan and Francis Thicke, and Suzan Kessel.
During the recent 'Vote for a Favorite,” Mike Pech's entry 'Half A Cup Please” was named the winner.
'You can't miss his piece on the west side of the square, with a blue shirted character holding out his half coffee cup, with hands made from mosaic broken dishes” said Suzan Kessel, FAA volunteer art director. 'When you are at the FACC making your bid, be sure to take a look at the Main Gallery exhibit ‘LaDi: Layered Digital Imaging' by Sara Slee Brown, an Iowa City artist.”
Submitted photo 'Snake Tree' by Pamela Lander is one of the Pipe Dreams creations being auctioned by the Fairfield Arts Association. Silent auction bidding is taking place in the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center's Main Gallery. Bidding ends at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6.
