Pollak honored for contributions to trail
The Jefferson County Trails Council is honoring Dr. Bill Pollak of Fairfield, a local veterinarian and avid trail supporter. Over a 25-year period, Pollak lent the use of his pickup truck close to 100 times for trail volunteers to use, carrying lumber, rock, and mulch at various times. He is the first recipient of the prestigious 'Blue Ox Award.” Upon learning of the recognition, the surprised Pollak responded, 'This is my second truck and first Blue Ox. Maybe if I'm lucky, I'll win another one in 20 yrs.”
