Post 29 American Legion met at regular session on Oct.13 with Wayne Kaufman commanding. Reports were heard from Adjutant Jim Peterson on membership and finance, Mike Worley on military funerals the organization provides, and Dan McClure on Boys State.
One new member, Gene Wallerich, was welcomed. Gene is a Vietnam-era Navy veteran. The All Veterans Dinner will be held Nov. 11 at the Presbyterian Church and members are urged to help set up the day prior.
The post is presenting a financial gift to White Tails Unlimited so they may continue providing hunting experiences for disabled veterans. The VA hospital could use clothing for patients. Good used coats, and other clothing must be clean, but all under garments must be new and in the original packaging. These items may be dropped off at Kennedy Insurance.
The program was provided by Danielle Pettit-Majewski, administrator of the County Health Services. She outlined all services provided and stressed the need for a permanent facility. The site chosen is owned by the county and is located across the street from the county jail and sheriff offices.
Post 29 welcomes all veterans as guests and prospective members. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Blair House.
