Presentation on Iowa's 'bird lady' Tuesday
MOUNT PLEASANT ? Professional author and photographer Larry Stone will give a presentation on Gladys Black, Iowa?s ?bird lady,? at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Oakland Mills Nature Center.

MOUNT PLEASANT ? Professional author and photographer Larry Stone will give a presentation on Gladys Black, Iowa?s ?bird lady,? at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Oakland Mills Nature Center.
Black, who spent more than 35 years in Iowa doing volunteer work with birds, identified bird species in the Red Rock region and wrote newspaper columns and books on Iowa birds. She is known for promoting habitat protection and environmental education in the region.
Stone will talk about Black?s history, including what she did for birds, her controversies, honors and memories.
The event will be free to the public. All ages are welcome with an accompanying adult.
