The Fairfield Park and Recreation Department is taking registration for several youth classes, including yoga, swimming and a Valentine?s party.
Gentle Yoga begins Tuesday
Registration for Fairfield Park and Recreation?s Youth Gentle Yoga for fifth- through eighth-grade boys and girls will end Tuesday.
The class for fifth- through eighth-grade youth will meet from 4-4:45 p.m. on six consecutive Tuesdays beginning next week in the Roosevelt Community Recreation Center aerobics room.
According to instructor Heidi Salmonson, this style of yoga allows more time between poses, and the softer pace can be very useful for beginners. The class will combine flexibility with body-weight strength training.
The cost is $30. To register, visit the recreation center or go online to www.fairfieldparksandrec.com.
For information, call park and rec at 472-6159.
Swimming lessons begin Feb. 7
Park and rec has scheduled two levels of swimming lessons in February.
Session 1 is Beginner lessons. A beginner is afraid of the water and won?t go under water. Participants will learn to front and back float. The class will meet four times from 4-4:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays Feb. 7-16.
Session 2 is Beginner 1 lessons. Beginner 1 swimmers will go under the water. Participants will learn to front and back float and start learning the American crawl. The class will meet four times from 4:30-5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays Feb. 7-16.
Classes will meet at the Roosevelt Aquatic Center.
The cost is $16. To register, visit the recreation center or go online to www.fairfieldparksandrec.com. Registration ends Feb. 7.
For information, call park and rec at 472-7088.
