I?ve been reading about ?Future of the former Nelson Nursing Home? debated and a few things come to mind.
Through the ages it seems like some things are OK, just not in my neighborhood! Long time ago it was people of a different color and recently a dog park and the list goes on.
This I don?t know for a fact, but I heard some of the neighbors at the time did not want Nelson Nursing Home there, which was built in 1975. Now it?s wanted for homes for employees of a nursing facility, primarily. I am appalled at some people?s lack of concern for the people that take care of our loved ones or someday perhaps ourselves.
This I know for a fact: in bad weather, hotel rooms were booked for the employees who lived out of town. While schools and others can be closed ? some services are never. They give up holidays and weekends with their families.
However, I wonder how a single mother could afford $700 a month for a two bedroom apartment if they are a CNA, dietary, housekeeping or laundry person because they don?t make that much money! Hopefully they can get some rent subsidy on an individual basis.
Everyone likes a quiet neighborhood. But there?s no guarantee that a next door neighbor could move out and sell their house to someone with noisy dogs or children or not keep it up, etc.
