Country Lane Quilters, from left, Mildred Ingalls, Mary Ann Cook, Barbara Jamison and Donna J. Corry, pose with 13 lap quilts they and Betty Countryman have completed for wounded soldiers. The quilts are being sent to Quilters Guild of Southern Maryland. From there, they are taken to Andrews Air Force Base, where they will be presented to injured soldiers upon their arrival. The Maryland guild has delivered 11,713 quilts, afghans and fleece blankets. The Country Lane Quilters also have made and donated quilts to the Birmingham Homecoming Committee and the Birmingham Fire Department for money-making raffles. They also have made children?s quilts for the Ottumwa Crisis Center and Women?s Shelter in Ottumwa. Fabric for the quilts was from the members? stash and a fabric donation from Sudi Williamson of Fairfield.
