The Maharishi School Quiz Bowl team, from left, Dia Huggins, Samantha Bell, Alex Hoffmann and Nathaniel Zhu, won the South East Iowa Super Conference Championship March 25. The team had to win six straight head-to-head matches to claim the crown. Questions covered a range of topics, including biology, physics, chemistry, astronomy, art history, American and world literature, as well as geography, algebra, geometry and calculus. Coach Rig Gelfand said the championship was especially fulfilling as this was the first time the students had competed in this type of competition. ?The students maintained their cool, had fun and walked away with first place,? he said.
