MEDIAPOLIS ? The Mt. Pleasant Soccer team picked up a road win on Tuesday evening in Mediapolis when Lauren Ralls scored the game-winning goal in overtime for a 3-2 victory.
After falling behind early 1-0 early, the Panthers scored twice in a row to take the lead.
The first was by Hattie Liechty, who put the ball in the back of the net after an assist from Maddy Long. The second was by Ralls, who made it 2-1 for the potential game-winner in regulation. However, the Bullettes tied the game up late and sent it into overtime.
In the extra period, Liechty found Ralls and Ralls send Mt. Pleasant home with a win in their last regular season road game of the year.
The Panthers have now won two games in a row and four of their last five going into their final regular season game. The team was in West Liberty this weekend where they fell 4-0 to Clinton and won 4-2 over Northeast Gooselake, thanks to a hat trick by Ralls and a goal by Anna Steffensmeier.
Mt. Pleasant moved to 8-6 with the non-conference victory after finishing their conference slate 4-4. The Panthers will have their last regular season game on Thursday, May 21, at East Lake Park against No. 12 West Burlington-Notre Dame.
Tournament play for MPCHS will start on Friday, May 29, at east Lake Park against Ft. Madison, a team they have defeated twice already this year. The winner of that game will move on to Eldridge, where they will play No. 3 North Scott on Tuesday, June 2.
