Randy Swift, Just Us Girls to perform at Washington library

The Washington Public Library’s “Thursday at Twelve” concert series features acts on the second and fourth Thursday of the month.

This month’s performers will be Randy Swift, taking center stage Oct. 13, and Just Us Girls, performing Oct. 27.

Swift is a Washington native and local guitar teacher. He is best known for co-founding Washington’s “Big Band Theory” with John Kessell.

Just Us Girls have performed throughout Iowa, and their mission is to raise money for high school graduates who plan to continue their education in the arts.

Concerts in this series last from noon until around 12:45 p.m. Audiences enjoy having time for Q&A at the end of the session, though this is not required.

“We may also have opportunities for other time slots for special musical events, so feel free to give us your ideas!” stated a news release from the library.

The library announced that it is booking its 2023 lineup now.

“The library can provide a well-tuned grand piano, music stands and an enthusiastic audience,” the news release stated. “If needed, musicians should bring their own sound systems and other equipment. We're open to individual performances, as well as groups; instrumental music, as well as vocal. We enjoy offering a variety of musical genres and levels of skill, including giving opportunities for students to hone their performance skills.”
