Real estate and mobile home taxes past due

Second half real estate and mobile home taxes were due March 1, 2019, and must be paid by April 1, 2019. A penalty of 1½percent per month, rounded to the nearest whole dollar, with a $1 minimum per parcel, will attach on April 2, 2019.

Statement coupons must accompany payments. Payments may be made in person at the Washington County Treasurer's office, mailed to the Washington County Treasurer at PO Box 889, Washington, Iowa, 52353, deposited in the drop box located at the west entrance to the courthouse, or, paid online with an e-check or credit card at www.iowatreasurers.org.

Payments that are mailed must have a U.S. Postal Service postmark date of April 1, 2019, or before, to avoid penalty. Predated checks will not be accepted as a substitute for the postmark.

Taxes remaining unpaid on May 31, 2019, will be advertised as delinquent and those remaining unpaid on June 17, 2019, will be offered at the annual tax sale.
