Rec center plans programs

The Fairfield Park and Recreation Department has several programs planned during October at the Roosevelt Community Recreation Center and Roosevelt Aquatic Center.
Swimming programs planned
A ?Swim Team Here I Come? program for boys and girls ages 5-16 is set to begin Oct. 8.
The program will help swimmers brush up on their skills and be ready to join a swim team. They will work on swimming strokes, diving off starting blocks and building up endurance. Erin Cracker is the instructor.
The class will meet from 4:30-5:15 p.m. Oct. 8, 15, 22 and 29.
Swimmers need goggles, swim cap and a water bottle, all of which can be purchased at the aquatic center.

Two sessions of swimming lessons are planned in October for children ages 14 and younger.
Session 1, for beginners, will meet from 5:15-5:45 p.m. Oct. 9, 11, 16 and 18. Students will learn to go under the water and front and back float.
Session 2, for advanced beginners, will meet from 5:45-6:15 p.m. Oct. 9, 11, 16 and 18. Students will work on the American Crawl, back crawl, underwater swimming and diving.

Gymnastics, trampoline classes set
Gymnastics instructor Jeff Ide, along with Angela Clark and Jeanne Ide, will teach several different sessions with classes for age/level groups ranging from 3- and 4-year-old children to advanced level gymnastics at different times.
Session 1 begins Oct. 15 and meets on six Mondays. Session 2 begins Oct. 16 and meets on six Tuesdays. Session 3 begins Oct. 20 and meets on six Saturdays.
Ide and assistants also will teach several sessions of a trampoline program with classes for age groups ranging from 3- to 6-year-old children to adults at different times.
