Red Cedar Chamber Music will perform at 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Ainsworth Opera House. An authentic Bohemian Meals will be served at 6 p.m. Call by Oct. 4 for reservations at 319-653-6250.
Fresh off a highly successful first season as Red Cedar?s core ensemble and Directors, violinist Miera Kim and cellist Carey Bostian bring you a powerful Czech-inspired program. But watch out ? not everything is what it seems. Czech composer Bohuslav Martinu?s Duo No. 2 sounds distinctly American, Warren Gooch?s Fauxmanian Dances live up to their name, and Bohemian-born Antoine Kraft?s duo sounds a lot like Haydn. Czech enthusiasts will hear a great Furiant by Otakar ?evcík as well as a wonderful set of Czech folk songs arranged by Iowa composer Harvey Sollberger.
This concert is supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.
