Red Flag Horseless Carriage tour announces 2021 event schedule

The Red Flag Horseless Carriage Motor Tour rseturns to Southeast Iowa with its annual event, which will be from Wednesday, Sept. 22 through Saturday, Sept. 25. Brass Era vehicles made before 1928 and their drivers will experience the beauty and hospitality over the three days of touring that are unique to this part of the state.
Participants will gather for introductions and a driver’s meeting that Wednesday evening, then the official tour starts Thursday.
Tour routes vary each year, and traditionally run between 50 and 75 miles per day. For 2021, Thursday’s excursion will include a trip to Washington, Iowa, with a special visit to the world’s oldest continuous operating cinema theater.
Thursday night will be spent back in Mt. Pleasant, drivers and their passengers will enjoy a meal at one of the local restaurants. On Friday, the group takes off to explore Cantril, with stops along the way and back. The Signature Event will be held that Saturday – a journey from New London to Brighton.
The mission of the Red Flag Horseless Carriage Tour is to foster an understanding and appreciation of vintage vehicle touring while enhancing the economic and cultural vitality of the southeast Iowa region. The purpose is to celebrate and support the appreciation of heritage and vintage vehicles, support the communities on the selected routes, and provide the participants and spectators with a quality experience that encourages return visits to Iowa.
