Known for wearing purple dresses and red hats, Washington's last of the Red Hat Mamas enjoyed luncheon beginning at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29. The hostess and guests went beyond the traditional clothing in favor more Halloween-esque attire.
The hostess was Margie Lasek of Washington. She served brunch to 10 members and one guest, Linda Wenger of The Journal. The menu included an egg casserole with bacon, an egg casserole with sausage, fresh fruit, spiced peaches, monkey bread and beverages. Her guests lavished her with praise for the excellent food. Laughter all around the table was dished out even more than the food.
Prizes for best costume were awarded to Barb Donskersloot, who arrived as the Tooth Fairy and wore a red fireman's hat; Gretta Embree, who was dressed as a red-hat-wearing ghost, and Nancy Kull, all done up as a black widow.
