The Salvation Army?s bell ringing season in Jefferson County surpassed its goal of $20,000 by raising $20,348.
Volunteers from groups like the Fairfield Lions and Kiwanis clubs and the Fairfield Friends Church; businesses like Jefferson County Health Center, Libertyville Savings and MidwestOne banks; and many individuals and families, who rang the bells, plus the gifts from donors help make it possible to assist local friends and neighbors when they face hard times, said the Rev. Holland Webb, the Jefferson County service extension coordinator for the Salvation Army.
?We will meet the needs of our neighbors and friends in the new year,? said Webb. ?We never know when any one of us may be the next person needing such assistance.?
The fund raising effort goes on throughout the year, and mailed contributions are always welcome. For information, call Webb at New Life Community Church, 472-2524.
